The Society has been in existence since 1868 and has held the annual Village Show every year with the exception of two world wars when their activities were suspended.

There is no membership fee to join the Society. Entrants into the annual show, held in August, automatically become members for the following year.

The annual show has classes for flowers, fruit, vegetables and cookery. There are also several children's, men's and boys' only and novelty classes.

The AGM is held in March with a guest speaker on some gardening topic and there is an annual outing, usually in May. Recent trips have included Hampton Court and Ness Gardens on the Wirral.
