IN DEEP WATER

Residents of Leek Wootton noticed on the morning of Saturday 27 November that they had no mains water. This was due to the mains pipe bursting on Hill Wootton Road, which in turn caused the road to flood under the A46 bridge.

The situation came to the notice of Severn Trent Water when a police car, heading for a cup of tea at the Headquarters at 5.30 in the morning, got stuck in the flood!

The situation was brought under control and by the afternoon mains water supplies had been re-established and the flood waters had subsided.
