30th Birthday… and a bigger one too!
Would you like to help us celebrate?

2026 marks an important milestone in Leek Wootton – our ‘new’ school will be 30 years old!

Keeping a school in the village when Warwickshire schools were being reorganised in the 1990s was a major fund-raising achievement for the whole community and, to mark this important birthday, the Parish Council, Leek Wootton History Group and the Leek Wootton Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School Trust (established to raise funds for the building of the new school) are launching a project to produce a book commemorating the life of the school. But not just an historical account – we would like the book to be a living testimony of the life of our village school throughout the whole of its life. The school had its origins much further back in time, and many, many children have grown and benefited from the time they spent at school in Leek Wootton in its current or former buildings, and the friendships they formed there.
We want your stories and any photographs you may have, of yours or your children’s time at our village school. We are looking for former pupils, teachers, parents, and governors as well as those currently associated with the school to share with us their memories and anecdotes of the school. Did you participate in sports days, tend the broody hens in the garden, make toffee to sell at Kenilworth Castle on Bonfire Night? Did you have a favourite school dinner or one you hated? Which teachers and helpers do you remember and why? What were your playground games and what naughtiness did you get up to? (you might even take this opportunity to clear your conscience of things to which you’ve never before owned up!). Who were your friends and are you still in touch with them?
We will include as many recollections as humanly possible in a book to be launched on the anniversary of the new school in November 2026.
