History Group was established in 1999 by a group of residents in order to write a history of the Parish of Leek Wootton &amp; Guy&#8217;s Cliffe for the Millennium. <\/span><span class=\"Subheading-04-C\">\u2018Leek Wootton and its Hamlets\u2019<\/span><span class=\"Placeholder-C\"> was published in October 2001 and was very successful.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aims<br><\/strong>Leek Wootton History Group is a not-for-profit organisation and its core aims, as set out in its constitution, are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To research and publicise the history and development of the Civil Parish of Leek Wootton &amp; Guy\u2019s Cliffe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To maintain a living archive of the Civil Parish, including all media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To advise and help individuals, both within the community and outside, having similar interests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To share information and work with other organisations with similar aspirations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To support and organise events, exhibitions, displays of local history for the benefit of the community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To support any worthy efforts with positive implications for local history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To publish books, leaflets or other work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To extend any of the above activities as opportunity may arise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"txt_40\">\n<p class=\"Body-Text-01-P\"><span class=\"Body-Text-01-C\"><strong>Activities<\/strong><br><\/span><span class=\"Normal-C3\">Since 2001 the History Group has continued to pursue interests in the history of the local area on an ad-<wbr>hoc basis; including compiling a living archive, assisting local and family historians, continued promotion of its publications and a mutually advantageous involvement with Warwickshire County Record Office&#8217;s Outside the Box project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body-Text-01-P\"><span class=\"Body-Text-01-C\"><strong>Publications<\/strong> <\/span><br><span class=\"Normal-C3\">In 2006, due to popular demand, the History Group published <\/span><span class=\"Body-Text-01-C1\">Leek Wootton and its Hamlets <\/span><span class=\"Normal-C3\">on CD and regularly buys back copies of the book for resale. &nbsp;In 2009 it published <\/span><span class=\"Body-Text-01-C1\">Mary Wise&#8217;s Recipe Book <\/span><span class=\"Normal-C3\">in partnership with Outside the Box, with grant support from The Heart of England Community Foundation. &nbsp;In 2011, coinciding with Warwickshire Police\u2019s decision to leave its Headquarters in Leek Wootton, a booklet about the building they have used for 62 years, <\/span><span class=\"Body-Text-01-C1\">A History of Woodcote<\/span><span class=\"Normal-C3\"> &nbsp;was written by the History Group Chairman, Paul Eldridge. &nbsp;In 2012 we published <\/span><span class=\"Body-Text-01-C1\">Doreen\u2019s Diary: She could not have loved more <\/span><span class=\"Normal-C3\">as part of a HLF supported project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body-Text-01-P\"><span class=\"Normal-C3\">In 2014, 100 years since the start of World War I, the History Group has published the stories of the 18 men named on the war memorial tablet in <\/span><span class=\"Body-Text-01-C1\">For God and Right and
